The Purpose of Bus Route Scheduling is to mitigate any set-up time that is required before actually performing work. This scheduling method sequences Tasks on a Resource based on families of parts. The families of parts should be based on what materials/tools are required. For instance, commonality of cutting tools when machining, or color when painting. An alpha numeric bus sequence number will then need to be developed for each of the parts that contains a family identifier and then a sequence within that family. The sequence of families and then the sequence of parts within each family will then be sorted either in ascending, or descending order. A percent value reduction can then be used to define what percent of the set-up "standard" will be used during the transition from family to family and part to part.
