1.  From the Home menu select SmartJobs Builder.


2.  The SmartJobs Builder Home Page will open

a.  Click on the SmartJob Templates tab.

b.  Click on “Create Template”.


3.  The Wizard dialog will open.

a.  You will then select how you want to create the new template. Selecting Existing SmartJob, SmartJob Template, or Task Template provides the opportunity to start with existing information and then revise as appropriate. Selecting “Scratch” would result in entering all the information required to create a new template.



4.  If you select Existing SmartJob

a.  Clicking in the SmartJob Name box will present an incomplete list of existing SmartJobs. When you start typing the list will fill with SmartJobs that match what you have typed.



5.  If you select SmartJob Template, or Task Template

a.  You will then select the Template Category from the drop-down list.

b.  Clicking in the Template Name box will present an incomplete list of existing Templates. When you start typing the list will fill with Templates that match what you have typed.



6.  If you select “Scratch” no other selections will be required.

a.  And regardless of selection, you would then click on “Next”.



From this point forward we will be following the path if “Scratch” was selected as this required all inputs.



7.  You would then enter a unique name

a.  Select either a SmartJob, or Task Template type

b.  Select the Template Category from those previously created

c.  The number of tasks that will be created for this template

d.  And would then click on “Next”



8.  Next you would rename the tasks from the numeric default.

a.  And then “Save”

9.  This will take you to the Template Details screen where you will enter all the relevant information to complete the template construction.

a.  The information icons show where additional information is required.

b.  You can view all the errors (incomplete information) by clicking on the “View Errors” button.



10.  Result of clicking on the “View Errors” button.



11.  The next step would be to start at the template level and set a Due Date

a.  And a quantity and “Save” the changes



12.  Now each of the tasks need additions starting with time segments.

a.  Click on “New Time Segment” to perform the addition.



13.  This will open the Create Time Segment dialog

a.  You will need to enter a name for the time segment

i.  which could be typically “setup” to account for preparation work like a changeover

ii.  “runtime” which is a per unit time for the quantity to be worked on

iii.  "cleanup" which would be work after a task has been completed

b.  Select a Measurement of either Unit, or Time

c.  Enter the duration for the time based time segment, or the per unit time

d.  And click on “Done” after you have entered the above information.



14.  If you have created multiple time segments for this task you will then have to select which time segment is the runtime for scheduling purposes. And then Save.



15.  Each time segment will now need to have Resource Requirements added.

a.  By clicking on the New Requirement button.

b.  If all the time segments will use the same requirements you can check the box, otherwise you can add requirements for each.



16.  The New Resource Requirement dialog will open.

a.  And you will first need to select a specific time segment, or you can choose All, which applies your subsequent entries to all of the created time segments for this task.



17.  You will then need to select the Resource Class in which the attributes to be used for matching have been saved.

a.  And the number of those resources needed for this task, or time segment.



18.  You will then need to define which attribute, value and level assigned to the Resource Class will be used for scheduling.



19.  And finally, whether you want the matching to occur using Auto, Preferred, or Pinned.

a.  And if Preferred, or Pinned which specific resource the engine should use when scheduling.

b.  When finished click “Done”. And Save your additions.



20.  Next dependencies need to be established between the created tasks.

a.  Select a task to add a dependency

b.  Then click on the add successor icon

c.  And select the successor task




21.  And the created dependency now displays

At this point you need to perform the same activity for each of the tasks, saving along the way until the template is ready to copy to a new SmartJob.
